Today I told PP that his lunch has the fall colors, very pleasant to the eyes. I made rice rolls with eggs and carrot, and a ripe persimmon for his fruit component. He ate all of it at lunch!
At the grocery store today I grabbed a few great deals; I bought about 3 pounds of salmon fillet for $3.99 per pound (compare to the regular $9.99 at this market and $14.99 at Wholefoods), brussels sprouts for $1.49 per pound (PP asked for it yesterday), sweet potatoes for $.99 cents per pound (he asked for mashed sweet potatoes and ginger), and sirloin steak tips for $5.99 per pound.
Woah, I loved it!
I bought a bunch of bok choy, two broccoli crowns, macaroni and shredded cheese to make the boys’ favorite, and other items to last us until the end of the week.
Today for dinner I split half of the salmon to make braised salmon ginger (cá salmon kho gừng), not the kind with coconut juice because the juice was too expensive at the store. Then the braised salmon is paired with stir fried brussels spouts in garlic and ginger sauce, and white rice. The other half of the salmon is being marinated for tomorrow’s dinner. I will probably broil it with some slices of lemon on top then make soba noodle salad to pair with it. As for the sirloin steak tips, that will go with the broccoli.
I don’t know about the other housewives, but I don’t get excited when it comes to clothes sales, but I do when it comes to grocery items, particularly the fresh kinds like meat, seafood, and vegetables. The sales made my day.
That’s it for my household reporting, 😀 I am a frugal housewife, after all!
