PP came home on Friday with his first school report. This kid is really giving Mr. O and me headache and heartache.
Academic skills — all 3s (meet expectation) and 4s (exceed expectation)
Social-emotional skills — all 1s (need to develop skills) and 2s (developing skills)
Here are some characteristics: smart, bright, working in advance level for reading and writing, but sometimes put less than desirable effort. Goofy, silly, often blurts out when he should be listening. Talking too much, and out of turns. Needs to be more accountable for his behaviors at school. Need to be organized and responsible for his belongings and school materials and equipments. Need to learn to respect staff and peers.
I know he is a challenging kid to work with, but I did not know the extent of how he behaves and acts when he is at school. Is it normal? I feel like we are the only parents dealing with this kind of kid.
I have been reading and researching like a mad woman looking for ways to work with him. If he does not improve I might have to bring him to therapy, or whatever kind of specialist to figure out what’s going on with this child and what’s going on in his mind.
Parenting is hard!
